Film critic Daisy sits down with Drew Barrymore to discuss her new movie 'Scream' and that moment that made her the new face of contemporary horror.
Daisy sits down with the new face of Horror
So I hear that you have a new movie coming out. Tell us a bit about it.
I do! It comes out on May 14 and it's a classic contemporary horror movie. It has the tension of 'I know what you did last summer' with plot twists that would make Psycho seem predictable!
I Know What You Did Last Summer is known for it's revolutionary depictions of its young female leads. So is this another forward thinking movie?
Absolutely! My character Casey is a pioneer of autonomy within the movie.. she makes her own choices and shes a real marmite character because of it. You either love her or hate her!
I was so excited to meet you today. I heard it only took 14 days to shoot the entire movie! How did you manage to capture such an iconic shot like the one we saw in the trailer!
Favourite moment in the new movie?
The opening scene! I cannot wait to see how audience react to it! It was a joy to film
With difficulty! I spent the whole day in my trailer til we filmed it and that was my first time seeing Screech in the suit so that's my real reaction! He was super scary!
Do you think you could survive a zombie apocalypse?
Absolutely not! I am so clumsy!
That was your real reaction! Amazing! I'm going to ask a few quickfire questions... are you ready?
How exciting! Let's go...
Thank you for talking with me today! I am so excited to watchthe full thing. Finally, What was it like working with the critically acclaimed independent director Wes Craven?
Favourite horror movie?
Uh.. I loved Midsommar!
It was lovely meeting you too! Wes is an old friend of mine and I was honoured when he asked me to star in it- and it's such a creative concept too! I hope the audiences love watching it as much as we loved filming it!
